Products and Piercings

1. What size do I need?

Since there is no universal sizing system for body jewelry, we recommend checking with your local piercer to find out the appropriate gauge and length. If that's not possible, we've listed some guidelines below. These are suggestions only. The size of a piece of body jewelry is determined by its gauge, length, and inside diameter. The gauge is the thickness of the jewelry shaft. The smaller the gauge number, the thicker the jewelry is. We’ve made a handy chart for your reference.

2. Are your tunnels and plugs always sold in pairs?

Unless stated otherwise in the product description, you will always receive a pair of plugs or tunnels.

3. Do you do custom orders?

Absolutely! Contact us directly using the email provided to send us specific information.

4. What type of material should I wear?

We highly recommend chatting up your local piercer. Professional piercers use surgical stainless steel and titanium initially because they are hypoallergenic. These are the best materials to prevent any reactions to the object in your body! Once a new piercing heals, you can play around with different materials and styles.

5. Where do you get your products from?

All our products are handpicked from the highest calibre manufacturers and designers in Thailand.

6. What’s the smallest size I can stretch to?

Technically anything larger than a standard ear piercing which is 18 gauge (1.0 mm) is considered a stretch. If you’re wanting to wear plugs or tunnels most jewelry will start at an 8 gauge.

7. What size can I stretch to and still go back to a 16 gauge or 14 gauge?

This depends on multiple factors. If you are stretching your ears properly with tapers, taking your time and allowing them to heal fully before you go up to your next size, without skipping sizes, your ears will stretch easily and be healthy with little to no scar tissue, allowing the hole to close up if you decide to take out your jewelry. Different people have different natural elasticity depending on their body type but as long as you allow the stretching process to be very natural your ear lobes should shrink up immensely if you choose to let them heal.

8. Why isn’t there a 1 gauge?

This is just the universal way the tapers work. Going from a 2 gauge to a 0 gauge is the first stretch that jumps from the previous 1mm stretches you're used to and everything after will be that 2mm jump. This means to be extra careful when doing your stretch go very slow and use some Tru Jelly (a lubricant we sell designed specifically to promote the natural elasticity in your skin to make an easier stretch).

9. Do stretched lobes always hurt? Or only during the stretching and healing process?

Once your lobes are done healing they will not hurt, they will just feel like your regular lobes again!

10. Why shouldn’t I stretch with silicone?

Silicone is extremely dangerous to stretch with because instead of gradually stretching your skin like a taper (our recommendation), you are snapping your skin open to the next size which can cause a blow out, a tear, or worse - rip your entire hole. Plus, silicone is an unfriendly material to place in a healing piercing; it can actually start to bind to your skin and cause further damage when removed.

11. What does a rejecting piercing look like?

A rejecting piercing will look like the jewelry is trying to make its way out of your skin. This can happen because you’re putting a foreign object in your body, and naturally your body will start to fight the object by pushing it out and healing behind it to eventually force the object completely out of the skin.

12. What is a keloid and how do I get rid of it?

A keloid is a tough bump of scar tissue that can occur most commonly in a piercing through cartilage. The best treatment we recommend is diligently using Dragon Mist. This is an all-natural topical spray with a key ingredient of tea tree oil that helps minimize and shrink the keloid bump whilst still properly cleaning your jewelry. With repeated and proper use the keloid should eventually go away.

13. My nipples/conch/belly etc. are pierced at a 16 gauge so I can’t wear the standard 14-gauge jewelry. What should I do?

The best thing to do is to go to a professional piercer and get them to use tapered needle to open your current piercing up to the proper gauge you need for your jewelry. Tapering shouldn’t cost as much, won’t hurt and will be a shorter healing period than the original piercing.

14. Why do my stretched lobes smell badly and how do I deodorize them?

The smell you experience from stretched ears is because you’ll get a buildup of skin oils and dead skin cells (ear cheese) that “gunks” up your jewelry. As your ears get larger you’ll notice it gets worse because, well, there’s more surface area of skin. We sell a product called Smelly Gelly, a petroleum based piercing conditioner that you can use once every 1-2 weeks (a little goes a long way!) to prevent the smell. Provided you’re still cleaning your jewelry of course!

15. Why should I be pierced with a needle opposed to a gun?

There are so many things wrong with getting gun piercings that we could go on forever, but basically the gun forces a blunt stud through the skin creating a jagged hole that can take a long time to heal, and can also be extremely inaccurate or crooked. It’s also extremely unsterile, and more painful than a needle.

Getting pierced with a needle by a professional will ensure that all of their instruments are properly sterilized. The needle they use is extremely sharp and hollow, allowing it safely pierce the skin and pushing the tissue to the side so the jewelry can be inserted safely. This method is almost painless and will give you much better results for healing and wearing your jewelry afterwards.

Care

1. How do I take care of my new jewelry?

Always check with your local piercer for tips on cleaning procedures. We’ve included some general tips here.

2. What is Dragon Mist?

Dragon Mist is all natural and has no alcohol or peroxide. It can also be applied directly on your piercing as a cleaning aid.

Body Piercings

NOTE: THESE GUIDELINES ARE NOT TO BE CONSIDERED A SUBSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL ADVICE FROM A DOCTOR.

  • Don’t touch your piercing without first washing your hands with anti-bacterial soap. Just don’t do it.
  • Do not use petroleum-based ointments, peroxide, alcohol, or iodine. These can hinder and prolong the healing process. Use a mild, antibacterial soap instead.
  • The easiest time to clean your piercing is either during or right after taking a hot shower. The hot water and steam will help soften your skin and loosen the crust at the base of your jewelry.
  • Use products like tissues, cotton balls or swabs to remove any crust around your piercing. Do not use a hand towel - bacteria can lie dormant in the cloth.
  • Your jewelry should remain in place during the entire healing period. If you take out your jewelry too soon, you could cause an infected hole to close up, trapping an infection and leading to complications requiring a medical professional.
  • Mild saltwater soaks are strongly suggested at least once a day to accelerate healing and increase your comfort. This may also help to reduce irritation in the area.
  • Leave the piercing alone except for when you are cleaning it! It is not necessary or advisable to rotate a ring while healing except during cleanings.
  • Don't use bandages on a new piercing. They limit air circulation and the adhesive can irritate the surrounding area.
  • Oil your organic body piercing periodically with jojoba, olive, peanut, mineral, grapeseed or Vitamin E oil. Never submerge your organic piercing in water.
  • Use a mild soap to clean your glass piercing.

Oral Piercings

NOTE: THESE GUIDELINES ARE NOT TO BE CONSIDERED A SUBSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL ADVICE FROM A DOCTOR.

  • Rinse your mouth for 30-60 seconds with an antibacterial mouth rinse after meals. Check with a local piercing studio or drug store for a rinse.
  • Using a new soft-bristled toothbrush will help to minimize the introduction of bacteria into your mouth.
  • Rinse your mouth with a mild sea salt mixture or warm water for 10-15 seconds, but no more than twice a day.
  • Try to sleep with your head propped up on pillows during the first few nights. Keeping your head above your heart will help to avoid initial overnight swelling.
  • Take small bites when you eat, and chew slowly. Cold foods and beverages feel great and may even help diminish swelling.

2. What’s the best thing to clean my jewelry with?

We always recommend to use a basic anti-bacterial soap and warm water, a sea salt water solution, or saline solution. It is best to stay away from anything that contains alcohol or peroxide as this can be potentially damaging to your jewelry and can also dry out your skin when used.

We produce a product called Dragon Mist that we recommend using to clean your jewelry with. Dragon Mist is all natural and has not alcohol or peroxide. Also, you can apply to the piercing.

3. What is a blowout and how do I avoid it?

A blow out is caused from stretching too quickly. Basically when you’re pushing a taper through and your lobe is not quite ready to stretch the pressure that your putting on your ear lobe by trying to force the taper through will cause the bottom part of your hole to rip and release the pressure. Your ear lobe will look like it’s starting to turn inside out. To avoid this happening be patient and make sure you’re not stretching too quickly, it’s not a race. Stretching is supposed to be as natural as possible if you’re experiencing a lot of pain or bleeding that’s your body telling you it’s not ready to stretch yet, stay at your current size and try stretching again down the road.
